Pros and cons of different vita grips and accessories

Featured Replies

There’s a lot of vita grips out there and can be difficult to find one right for you, I decided to make a post to show feedback on certain easy to find grips wether they’re knockoffs or not

Almost All these products have been copied by other companies and 3d printer sellers, names given are the names that can best help to find the product

Custom 3D printed grips will also be added but separately as quality can vary depending on printer, plastic used, the sellers experience

Prices are in CAD

•VITA 1000-1100(3G)

Tectinter (OSTENT) ABS joypad grip

Pros:

  • Easy to find and well priced
  • Removing/inserting vita is very easy
  • Access to all ports while grip is on
  • 2 pins can be pushed out to let it stand upright
  • The Vita 2000 fits in this grip very well

Cons:

  • There’s actually no cons on this one that I can think of unless you get one that’s cheaply printed

Personal notes:

I highly recommend this grip if you own the 1000-1100 models, had one since 2016 and it’s still working like new minus some scratches

Available on Amazon, Temu, aliexpress

Price 5-10$

TopPlayer L2R2 trigger grip

Pros:

  • L2R2 triggers for remote play and certain games
  • Can be found easily enough
  • Fits the vita neatly without a  chance of harming it when inserting/removing,
  • Access to all ports while grip is on

Cons:

  •  Hinges and clips are prone to breaking
  • Can’t be stuffed into your pocket
  • Can’t be stuffed into your pocket
  • There are a few knock offs that look identical but are made with much cheaper plastic
  • Can’t fit in most cases

Personal Notes:

I suggest this grip mainly if you want to remote play, or have a game that requires fast touchpad presses, not a good grip to have if you want to travel it’s bulky and plastic is cheap even on the “real” ones, get a toplayer vita case to keep it safe

Available on Amazon, Temu, Aliexpress

Price 20-30$

OSTENT handle grip

Pros:

  • Highly comfortable especially for those of us with large hands
  • Easy to remove/insert
  • Some come with a stand leg that keeps it upright

Cons:

  • can’t charge or access ports without removing from grip
  • Can’t fit in your pocket or in cases

Personal Notes:

This grip is best if you play mainly at home or have larger hands. Its not designed to be carried in a case or pockets.

Available on Amazon, Aliexpress

Price 5-10$

•VITA 2000 (slim model)

TopPlayer L2/R2 grip

Spoiler

Pros:

  • All ports can be accessed (if top trigger grips are installed you lose access to the game card port)
  • L2/R2 triggers for remote play
  • Somewhat comfortable
  • Comes with joystick caps
  • Sometimes comes with top triggers which also double as a holding clip
  • Plastic is easily fixed with superglue
  • Top trigger can easily enough be repurposed to work with other grips

Cons:

  • Cheap plastic that easily breaks.
  • Vita is held by 2 tiny clips that can break while trying to insert/remove vita.
  • Case puts structural pressure onto the console itself.
  • Case can scratch or damage vita while attempting to insert/remove

Personal Notes:

I highly recommend skipping this grip, it’s just too cheaply made especially for the price, sadly this is the one you’ll see on most sites when searching for grips

If you do get one, plan on using it with a vita that won’t need to be removed much if at all.  Had one case come to me with both clips already broke.

Available on Amazon, Aliexpress, Temu

Price 20-30$

Tegrup L2/R2 grip

Spoiler

spacer.png

Pros:

  • Easy removal of vita
  • Access to memory card port
  • L2/R2 triggers for remote play

Cons:

  • Must remove top triggers to access game card
  • Plastic isn’t the best
  • Can be hard to find

Personal Notes:

This grip looks very similar to the TopPlayer but difference is it allows easy insert/removal of the vita, it does not have the 2 clips that hold the vita, instead the vita is locked into place with a top piece similar looking to the top triggers from TopPlayer

Available On Aliexpress

Price 22$-40$

OSTENT handle grip

Pros:

  • All the pros of the 1000 version
  • Can charge your vita

Cons:

  • Must remove from grip to access ports
  • Can’t fit in pocket or case
  • Again this type of grip goes well for those with larger hands

Personal Notes:

This grip goes well if you have big hands, some of them have stands to keep the console upright

Available on Amazon, Aliexpress

Price 5-10$

•Cases

TopPlayer Trigger grip case 30-60$

spacer.png

Available on AliExpress and EBay

Pros:

-Fits vita in grips snuggly

-Has a game card holder and room to store small accessories

Cons:

-Many parts are glued and not sowed in

-No screen protector flap like most vita cases

-Prices fluctuate a lot, one day it’s 20$ the next it’s 50$

I highly recommend this case for vita owners, even without a grip, it works well

Easy to store and carry

Cons:

Quality depends on the seller and 3D printer used

Held together by small screws that can easily strip

I've only had the "Tectinter (OSTENT) ABS joypad grip" for my Vita 1000, it's the best, sleek, not too bulky and doubles as a stand. Love it

It also fits the 2000 model really well

Man I wish the 1000 had a better L2/R2 grip. The Top Player one seems find but I just don't like that it covers up the front of the system too. The 2000 got so lucky with the Hori grip, even if it is expensive. Regardless, great write-up thank you for the info!
